until there is an OFFICIAL announcement from Lexus, dont believe anything

there might be an upgraded version as well....similar to the GS 300/400/430 options...

Awesome. I am liking the AWD action.

Of course I need to cry about it "only" having 245hp. Now how will I go about racing all the morons at stop lights trying to prove how big my ***** are?

I really dont get why people ***** about HP ratings in these types of cars. What, do you plan to just floor it every time you drive it? Are your streets/highways different than mine? Do you get some magic fuel economy by doing this that I don't know about? Just boggles my mind why people ***** these days. I have had a 2001 IS since June 2000 and never has its "lack of pwoer" (as some seem to think) ever been a concern. It has always been quick enough in any situation. Why then do people need 597695876954798456 HP cars that can go form 0-60 in 0.32 seconds? Is it just to brag? If so, are you that weak a human pbeing mentally that you need to boost your ego by a big PIECE OF METAL?

I just can't imagine how much better the world would be if people actually grew up and bettered themselves rather than ***** about little sports sedans "only" having 245hp because they won't be able to go and "smoke" everybody at stoplights and stroke thier fragile egos since their car isn't the be-all, end-all on the road.

people have different tastes, some people like high speed, some people like moderate speed. why do you think so many IS boosted around and why do you think it's worth waiting for months to get your turbo installed just to smoke everybody at stop lights ( right, tsoprano ). it's not about ego

Actually that is official the 2.5 is a AWD IS300 and the larger motor is the rwd IS350 and those were made official this weekend in a few advertisements.

As for power some people like power Rob you must have never had the honor of sitting behind a 500 hp monster to feel the power and the fun it adds to the drive.

Interesting, i was told it would be an IS250 (for the 2.5)not the IS300. And that the AWD is optional not standard. But guess we will just have to see what turns out.

Excellent, Rob.............extremely well-written.
Being a car enthusiast doesn't necessarily mean being a 0-60 or skidpad enthusiast.

i have both gs4 and is3, and my is3 is already 5 speed (quite a bit faster than auto). i can tell you any day, i miss the power on my gs4 over the is3, period

it's not about what power you can use all the time, it's about when you need it. freeway on ramp, need to pass someone, ride comfort, they all needs power. with my gs4, i can pass people if necessary without pushing the car too hard. but with my is3, i have to push it hard to just get close to what the gs4 can bring me, when i need it. that's the difference.

of course, if you talk about 600hp, ok, you have a point, that's too much even for passing someone. but talking about the 215hp on the current is3, i have to admit, it's lacking a bit

The IS300's 215 HP and 218 lb /ft is pretty much OK for most normal driving....I drive alone most of the time. On a steep grade, heavily loaded, in the upper gears it can get a little out of breath. The 5-speed has noticibly more spunk than the E-Shift.......those ultra-smooth Lexus automatics tend to eat up some HP.

Damn, you guys make me feel bad with my 160HP and 160lb/ft CR-V! I WISHED I had 215HP in that CR-V. It'll make passing more enjoyable. However even with 160HP and a 4 banger, I feel that is is more than enough to pass.

The point is......it's never enough......it's just human nature.
