My first sub and amp mod plus 6x9 rear install
Okay I decided on these cause my budget all up is about $220AU this includes amp and subwoofer
First replace the 25w rear stock lexy speakers with 400w ( 60w rms ) Sony explodes ...... not an easy thing to do especially in the mid afternoon 32c heat and 80% humidity .
Needless to say I sweated my ring out in the process and gave myself a headache
A bit different the speakers are . Lucky I had some carpeted 20mm MDF oval "adapters" lying around to save further swearing and cursing .....
Well I had to remove back seat and back parcel shelf side trims first then parcel shelf and then unbolt the stockies ....... that was painfull and still sweating profusely damn it !!
Modded the speaker wiring for the explodes did a quick test so far so good ......... a couple of screws from underneath into the adapters fixes them solid
Had to relieve / dremmel some of the underneath of the parcel shelf to get it to sit moar flush .
This took 2hrs to do
Its doof doof time for me . My first amp and sub install .
Lucky a good mate of mine came over and offered his 10 years worth of expertise .........
Mud map
Bits and pieces
Thankyou Lexus for putting a 8 gauge wire hole in the wiring loom bung in my IS 300 . A bit of chapstick on the wire and thru it went
Had to find somewhere close to put the fuse near the battery so the lid on the ECU looks like a good place to do it
Fuse block mounted .
Okay wires soldered and connected to fuse block . Bungs fitted and bit of insulation added to the wires
Okay power side of things are sorted out and looking good just gotta re-connect the battery...... Now its time to pull some cable
Ran the 8 Gauge power down passenger side of car and hid it in the trim
Ran the RCA cables for the subwoofer and RCA for rear 6x9's ( I installed the other day ) underneath the center console and under the back seat
Also ran the power cable as far from the speaker RCA cabling as possible to the passenger side and followed the loom up and over into the boot
Okay chucked the sub in and wired up the earth to the amp and crossed over the sub and ran the rear speakers on its own channels .
Still have some tidying up to do like a 4 way plug for the speakers to the amp and sumthin for the earth and power for easy removal .
the results are reel good esse and the bass is now window shattering and kidney rattling
Took 5 hours to do . Thanks to old mate for his guidance and help . I coudnt have done it with out ya
Tidied up the boot wiring
This setup is really LOUD
