Default Help Code P0710

My car keep throwing code P0710 trans temp sensor malfunction. The fluid is good and it isn't getting really hot or smell like it is burning. I can reset it and it will come back on after about 20 miles but once it comes back one it shifts hard between 1st and 2nd gear but once the transmisson warms up it shifts fine but runs sluggish. I could find any thing for this code so any help would be appreciated

This is probably not going to solve the problem, but have you changed the transmission fluid recently? If not, change it and see.
How do you know that "it isn't getting really hot"?
I think you need to take the car into a garage.

Full disclosure: I have never had this problem nor have I heard of it.

I thought you said it was shifting hard from 1st to 2nd? Anyway, I would still ask you "how do you know the fluid temperature isn't indeed too hot?"
If you somehow just know this, then you have a bad sensor.
If you don't know this fo sho, I would consider taking it in to a garage for a professional opinion. Make sure you go to a garage you trust.

I just changed the fluid a couple of days ago and I think it is the sensor but I can't find it on any of oem part sites or the valve body harness

Hello,

What's the year and mileage on the car?

P0710 indicates a malfunction in the Temperature Sensor Circuit for the transmission, it is very unlikely that this code can be triggered by a mechanical malfunction. Check the resistance of the sensor when the car is cold and hot, see if the sensor is not open or short, as well as if there is a significant difference in values, all the pinouts and values can be found in documents linked above. If that's good, check the wiring from the transmission to the ECU, here is a wiring diagram for your car.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
