Default Buying a IS300 (5-speed)

I have an opportunity to buy a IS300 with a little over 100k miles, the car has 5-speed manual transmission. My friend didn't know the exact year since his wife drives the car but I believe its a 2002. She's a school teacher and drove it as her daily driver.

The clutch was replaced a couple of years ago, regular oil changes were always done on time. She is a non-smoker and took good care of it. I don't know if the car has had new plugs or other major service. No accident history.

Two questions:

1. What changes were made on the first generation IS300 (what year).

2. Is there anything to worry about with repairs on a 5-speed.

I'm guessing a fair price would be 6k for private party

TIA

1. http://my.is/forums/f52/2001-2005-is...s-list-228212/

2 At just over 100K, I haven't had to do any significant transmission service other than replacing the clutch several years ago. The thump when shifting in lower gears is normal. Once you figure it out, you'll stop hearing it. Also, I hope the car has had its 90K service. That one can get pretty expensive.

6k would be a steal

should have the timing belt and water pump done at that mileage. timing belt job on this car is pretty simple if you have the right tools.

if there is no record of the 90k service, go and do plugs, water pump, timing belt, tensioner, and pulley. do your diff and trans fluid change. there really isnt anything to worry about on the stock 5spd unless you starting making power (which it cant handle)

According to this forum post (link), the clutch can wear pretty quickly due to spirited driving.
