Default Should have just bought an IS300...

Hey guys, new member here.

Having a bit of buyer's remorse after picking up a '99 4Runner Limited instead of a first-gen IS300 as a daily driver. Don't get me wrong, I really like the 4Runner for what it is. I love being able to throw dogs and snowboard equipment/mountain bikes and car parts in it and not care, but I've always really liked the IS300 and am thinking now I might have been a bit happier finding a nice manual car instead. I toss the idea around of selling the 4Runner about once a week so I've decided to join CL and lurk the classifieds and possibly find a car that'll motivate me enough to finally make the switch.

Anyway, I'm in Palm Springs, California. Been a part of the Toyota family since 2006 when I bought my Supra (another reason I wanted an IS300 - the familiarity with the 2JZ). The Supra has never been daily driven (76k miles on the chassis) and has basically become a full-blown race car over the past couple years. My only real concern about getting an IS300 is I'm not sure if I can keep myself from taking it down the same path as I did the Supra!

Looking forward to learning new things around here!

Things are tougher to do in an IS, maybe that will dissuade you from going all out... Or not, hard to say!

a is300 is like having a mini supra as your daily driver. Now get on Craigslist and get one!

I thought I would get crazy with the 4Runner too and now 4 months in and I haven't done anything to it except change the oil and trans fluid.

Workin' on it! I'll be honest, the switch probably won't happen until I get the Supra tuned and running. That's taking up way too much of my attention now. I'll be feeling it out the next few weeks, learning what I can, and then make my move once the red car is done.

I am currently trying to budget for an IS300...and I also own 2 4Runners. One of which is my wife's DD, a 2000 Limited 4x4. The other is my toy, a '91 with 33x12.50R15, lockers, lift, engine swap for the more reliable 3.4 out of a 2000 model 4Runner. Both are great vehicles, but those tires are awfully expensive for a daily driver. With 2 teenagers about to start driving, my other 2 cars will be occupied, and that, I hope, will be the doorway into an IS.

Keep the 4Runner for all the stuff you currently use it for, and get the IS for a DD.
