Hi ever one i know this is a subject that i have found everywhere but i have some questions if you could help me out. I just bought a 2002 IS300 with just a valet key. First off i am sure its programmed as a valet key. I want to get a master key made and i know it would need a reflash or whatever. I just had a locksmith at my house who told me to buy a key online and he would cut it and reflash my ecu and program it. Then when i got the key he said that this key would break his cutting tool and no one would cut it! Is that BS? Next Could I get the key cut by anyone using the valet key as the copy and then take it to a performance shop to have them reflash the ecu then pedal dance the keys? Also i do have the key code with the valet key. but is there anything else i can do?

Im guessing you dont want to go to the dealer? I was able to get a key guy who goes to used car dealers do it. He cuts them the second key if they weren't supplied with two. He had key fobs and programmed them

I called the local Lexus dealers and they want 600.

Holy crap!! That is an insaine amount of $. I paid $66 for each key fob and programming. What state r u in?

my dealer quoted me about $250.

i got some key mode online at ebay for about $10 but i need someone to cup the metal part. the top part (fob?) w/ the electronic to open the door and trunk is still good. both of the plastic model are broken on my main key and my backup key so i am using the valet key at this point. what a piece of BS to charge me that much for a cheap quality / build.

i am still looking for an independent dealer to cut the key for me.

A lot of guys here got spare keys from Sewell Lexus, with the clublexus discount. I got one for my sc and the price wasnt bad at all. Theyll take a vin # and proof of ownership.
