Added third Lexus to the family
Hey guys, I just drove my third Lexus home to Wisconsin from Orlando.
I have 2 matching 97 ES300s (pics in my profile) and this one is an IS300.
It is a black 2001 with 75000 original miles and garage kept. Real nice.
Bringing this one home was quite the adventure. Two flat tires and an ice storm in Illinois. Still made it straight through in 19 hours!
I have a couple questions.
1. Anyone know where I can get a free download of the FSM?
2. There are 2 small tubes on each side of the timing belt cover that are bulbed like they should have hoses on them but don't , are they just vents?
3. Is there a way to tell if the coolant reservoir is full enough.
4. Any tricks to get better mileage?
Thanks, I'm sure the IS300 group is as helpful as the ES300 one is.

1. There is a pdf DL on my.IS
2. They're not used on the IS300. I think they my be of use if you boost the car.
3. Get a flashlight and look at the back of the tank. You will see a window with Max and min levels marked.
4. No special IS300-only tricks. I avg. ~19mpg city/fwy mixed.
