Default IS 430- V8 Power!!!!

It is preety much confirmed that the IS430 will be making its debut soon. I don't know about you guys but that sounds sick to me!! I also know that Lexus is going to really make this a driver's car ie Bimmer. Only thing is, why would they have to step up to such a big engine, V-8. Is our engineering not good enough to supply an efficnet enough I-6, ie Bimmer. Other than that, I am really looking fwd to seeing this bad boy, more so drive it! I heard they are gonna make the IS much more aggresive looking, and not like a Civic's older brother

if this is confirmed,

are the transmission configurations confirmed too?

are they offering a manual with the 430?

if so, maybe we have all we need to do a manual swap gs400 / 430

dgtbullet,

sorry, no pics because all of these parts are sitting either in my garage, basement, or living room.

it's too damn cold here to do anything in the garage. and, everytime i try to start up the propane heater to work in the garage, i get lazy and call it a day.

anyways, i can probably get pics of the mountain of parts waiting to go into the GS

hehehehe that doesn't help

hey man, care to share where you got the information? i am curious how you are sure about is430. if it comes out, at least it will get 5 speed for sure, unless lexus is smoking

well v8 will only give more juice to the IS, and at high end the IS430 will win over the M3 for sure too. that would be interesting.

but another problem i have is, is300 turbo would be much faster than is430, and is430 will not be cheaper than is300 + turbo...

technician told me @ Lexus
and I have seen stuff about it on the web
I would say a straight engine car would be more dependable and reliable than the turbo
i dont think we are gonna see a lexus turbo coming out anytime soon

ic... but if they only have 300hp with the 430 engine on is, that's weak imho. m3 has a 333hp i6, and m5 has 400hp v8. with the 300hp v8 on the is430, it won't even come close to the m3, i don't even think the is430 would be able to break the 5 seconds window

and another thing is the price. if the is430 is to compete with m3, with that engine config, it can't priced above 50k imho, where the m3 is 55k. if it's 55k, why not get m3 for the power? but then would lexus sell the is430 at 50k? i don't know

in my opinion...

a turbo version would be pushing it in the is300...

if anything, they should look into a coupe version of the SC430...
and making putting in a twin turbo version 3.0L manual in that...

that would be one fun car!

why you think tubro is300 is pushing it? keep in mind, that's the same engine in the supra twin turbo, where people can almost crank up the hp at will

I don't think Lexus will be putting a V8 in the current IS body.
The production cost will be very high and as rominl said, power wise it will be a litlle bit off the mark.

in my opinion,

a factory IS300 with the 2jz-gte motor would be pretty far fetched because it seems that the direction lexus is going is towards smooth powertrains with a moderation of power.

if lexus felt a little power happy, i wouldn't be suprised if they did do something like an IS300 with the 2jz-gte motor in it.

But, by taking a look at the entire lexus line-up... i don't see that ever happening.

as for my thoughts on the SC430... to a coupe and the 2jz-gte 6-speed setup... that's my fantasy... i doubt this is even considered an option for future lexus line-ups.

What? More reliable than a 2JZ-GE engine with a turbo? If you want to run a small setup, you can easily push 340 rwhp on 7 psi from Powerhouse Racing. That kit will run all day everyday without problems. The engine has internals to handle much more than that power. Not to mention, you will have a M killer for much less than the M3 and whatever the IS430 would cost. Either way, the I-6 is hands down the way to go.... cost, power, and reliability.

The bad thing is that I have heard rumors of the I-6 being replaced with a V-6. That would be a shame.

the v6 will replace the i6 coz' of emission, that's pretty much for sure already. the v6 for gs is already coming, so expect that to be the case on is too.

and yes, you can say that the 2jz-ge is a ridiculously strong engine, imho putting 400rwhp using that engine and it will still run very strong. like i said the supra tt is such a good example. same engine, and look at all the super cars around with that engine.

i definitely wish the is430 will come out, that's very interesting, but priceless it just doesn't make much sense for lexus to do that at all. kinda kill their current lineup and at the same time not able to steal much market from bimmer. a turbo is300 would be awesome imho

LMAO...haven't been to CL for so long and now pplz here believe in a hoax like this....muahahhahahaha

2 simple facts:

1. IS430 will never come out in US
2. IS300 will not have a remodel for at least 6 more years (or at least after the GS and LS gets remodel)

that is all

Default 6 years?!

The IS will be redesigned before another 6 years goes by. Lexus, like much of the automotive world like to stick to 4-5 year product cycles. Sometimes it does stretch it longer, but it would still update it significantly along the way. The IS came out as a 2001 I believe.. so I'd expect a light refreshening perhaps for 2004 model year, then full new model for 2006.
