Default Gauge Cluster Color Not Just Bulbs?

I had a bulb go out on my gauges and don't have my LEDs yet, so for the moment I just pulled the orange condom covered bulbs from the cluster and replaced them - but there's still a definite orange tint to the lights. What gives? Is there an orange reflector or gel in front of the lights somewhere? Is it mitigated when you swap in LEDs because they're a more direct light? Everything I found searching was just related to swapping in LEDs.

Thanks!

Default

In fact with straight non-LED bulbs what I get is sort of a peach color to everything. It's weird. Anyone?
