Buying an 03 IS300 have a few questions
So I'm looking to buy a 2003 IS300 to build a drift machine out of, just have a few questions if anyone knows things that usually die on these cars, the kind of milage they usually start to get problems at.
I have one in mind specifically, it has the 2JZ-GE 3L i6 motor is stick, has a body kit that I'm alright with nice rims and really high end tires. No mods to the motor or exhaust and has around 119 thousand kilometers on it (74,100 miles). looks like it would be a perfect blank canvas to build on. If anyone knows any common issues with theses cars or has any tips on tuning them please let me know!
ps. the car will be turbo'd, i'll be putting in coil over suspension bigger injectors an ECU and probably more aggressive cams

in stock form, they are extremely reliable... a few early ones had cd player issues, but that is really about it...
in modded form, well, you probably won't be happy with the stock motor or transmission... also, if that one has it, the stock lsd's in these cars aren't ideal for drifting, being they are torsen type...
if you are wanting to make over 400 hp, build the motor and replace the trans with a R154 or V160/V161, run a standalone and done...

Great to know, I'm thinking if I use an IS300 for this project I'm probably going to drop in a 2JZ-GTE supra motor and twin turbo it. I'll look into those trannys to thanks mate
The cd player I'm not worried about, gonna pull that out and drop in an LCD clarion system Thanks again
