Default Retro fitting Stock Sat Nav???

Hey,
have just brought a Non-Sat Nav IS300 and I want to fit a Sat Nav to the car.

I see there are plenty on Ebay for sale, and if its just a case of buying it and swapping with the blank thats currently there I will be able to do it.

However I have a feeling that it's not going to be that simple.

Has anyone done this before and know what it involves?

Any help anyone can provide on this would be great.

Cheers

my guess is to get this to work you will need to buy the motorized housing on top, the controls in the center console the dvd unit which i believe is mounted in the trunk plus all the wiring. possibly even the main headunit. in the end it would be cheaper and easier to just buy an after market headunit with navi. pioneer or something like that.

I want to keep the stock head unit I don't like changing things too much. I've read about people taking the nav housing and putting a different screen/Nav in the housing. Does anyone know where i can buy just the motorised housing and what size screen fits inside it? and is the power source for the motorised unit available in a NON- Nav car?

thanks

I would like to do the same as Gtow7023.
I read that installing OEM sat nav would be lot of work. What are the other options I have?

Check out my previous post on this topic (pics included). I too have a model without the navigation, so I retrofitted a 7 inch Garmin with voice activation functionality and live traffic updates to the center console. I tried my best to maintain the "stock" look, and most people that have been in the car assumed it was a stock navigation unit. It did not take much time nor money. The GPS unit that comes with the first generation IS is very outdated anyway, and getting all the parts will cost you nearly $1,000. Not worth it for such an old school navigation system.

There's a few listing on ebay for navi screen and housing. As for the retrofit. Nice write up and pics on my.is com.
