DIY: Aftermarket HID Install
I've been looking for the past few days for a good DIY HID thread, but most of them are about changing the bulbs smh.
So here goes...
1. Lay out your HID kit and make sure everything is there... I went with the JLC 8000K HID kit (ballast and bulbs)
2. You need to remove the bumper to get the headlights out (instructions here)
http://my.is/forums/f90/tutorial-how...lights-226292/
3. Remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the headlight exposing the ballast
4.Disconnect the ballast power cord
5. Now pull the Silver thing (idk what its called) through the hole where the ballast was
this was why all my bulbs kept blowing
6. Change your bulbs (Jlc 8000K)
7. This is the important: Open the grey power plug that you removed from the Ballast
8. tape the ends
9. You need T-Clamps to attach the red and black wires from the car to the ones from the kit
10. Red to Red, Black to Black
11. Pull the power cord for the ballast and the bulb thingy (i still dont know what its called) thru the hole where the grey backing was
12. Replace the Ballast cover, since the new ballast cannot fit
13. Attach the cords to the ballast and put headlight on car to test
14. Find somewhere to mount your Ballast
15. Wash, Rinse, and Repeat for the other headlight... and enjoy
16. And while the bumper is off might as well toss some HID's on your fogs too
17. Ahhhh Done
Thanks to Peter and a special thanks goes out to Louis from JLC Lighting, who actually stayed on the phone with me for nearly an hour helping me troubleshoot... Great Product that they are selling and even better customer service.
