Default How much to fix? Worth Buying?

How much will a dent like this cost to fix? Is the car worth buying for $2600 (More info in Post #12)
Cheapest options available. Like a Junkyard door and pound it out?

Crap... Did you buy the car like this or you were drifting and hit something?

Well good news.. The door is easy to replace..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS...Q5fAccessories

Oh an the price is negotiable on most stuff, shoot them an offer..
But with a big heavy door + free shipping I donno how much you can talk them down.

Or look in the classifieds section on here or at my.is people always wrecking their cars and parting them out.

As for the structure damage..
I'd report it to insurance if you haven't already.
I think they will total your car to be honest, because that's not gonna be an easy/cheap fix...

I actually don't own the car yet. I'm thinking about buying it as a DD. My project car is an SC300.

The guy said that the body shop quoted him 1500 to 2000 to fix it.

1500-2000 or more. What they are going to do is pull the damage out and straighten the structure of the car by hooking it to a frame machine or etc cut that section out of the quarter panel and weld a new section in or fix it with body filler(doubt this) maybe replace the whole quarter panel , replace the door, unless the inner door frame is not damaged then they may only replace the door skin. Sand down the front door with 1500 or so grit sandpaper to knock the shine off the clear, sand down the rest of the undamaged quarter panel the same except for damaged area. Then paint the door jamb feathering it in the rest of the paint and buffing afterwards. then paint the door feathering it into the quarter panel and front door, then clear the front and rear door and quarter panel, and possibly wet sanding and or buffing afterwards.

Also not to mention the damage is very close to the rear wheel, so you are going to want to get a four wheel alignment to make sure everything are in specs and nothing is bent or anything. Without an insurance company involved in fixing the damage it is going to cost more money, they cut a little better deals to the insurance companies.

get real.....
i had a beer bottle thrown at my driver side door, it cause 2 major dents in my car door and it was roughly 700 dollars to be done correctly, and thats quotes from 3 repuatable repair shops, ranging from 450-700

id move on, unless its a incredible deal.

exactly right^^^, it is not always JUST about making it look the same as it did before and bubblegumming the damage up, it is about repairing the structure and integrity of the car while making it look just as good as it did before the accident.

Test drove the car last night, it drove well. (there wasn't any smoke smell) They want $2600 for it. It has 133k on the odometer and only "mod" is an exhaust. Has black interior with CF trim pieces. The seats are leather I think with swede centers. Other then that dent and one small one in the rear bumper, some rub on the front bumper from when he had larger tires, and a front rotor that is starting to wear, the car seems sound.

I don't plan to mod it, I just need a car that will get me to and from work and my night classes. If its not too much money, I'll buy a new door and get that pounded out. Otherwise, I'll just drive it as is.

I have a couple other questions though.
1) Did any of the 2001's come with carbon fiber interior parts?
2) Is there an issue with Lexus that makes the hood release cable wear out?
3) Anything I should be wary of or check for before purchasing this car?
4) Is it worth buying

That's not a dent. That's crash damage. My car was swiped at the same place + little damage on drivers door a few years ago, my quarter panel/door sill wasn't nearly as bad, bodyshop/insurance was over $2000 to fix.

Owner said some one turned onto the wrong side of the highway, going the wrong direction. The jeep in the left lane swerved into his car to avoid the other car. Planted a bumper right into his lexus. That's probably why hes selling it. using the insurance money and what he can make selling it to pay it off.
