Default smoke from exhaust on cold starts. ugh!

so i got into my car this morning and noticed a puff of smoke from my exhaust when i started it. so its time for new valve stem seals, which totally sucks cus i just did my timing belt, water pump, crank, and cam seals earlier this year! and now i have to take it all off again to do my valve stem seals..

Smoke from exhaust on cold startup is normal especially when it's cold outside........
Unless it's like an unusual crazy amount of smoke I see no problem..?

smoke is very normal on a cold start up. valve stem seals???? did you mean valve seals in your head? valve stems are in your wheels and what you use to put air in your tires haha

true, but not when i live in phx and weather is still in the mid 80's. ive done seals on other cars like camrys with the 2AZ-FE motor and also other toyotas with the 3MZ-FE.

Oh... yeah I been there, it's hot a balzz

Does the smoke smell like oil? (headgasket)?
Does the smoke have a really strong smell (maybe its running rich)?
If the smoke has a strong smell then I would look into it soon.

im not sure if this works on the 2jz but i know on some cars you can remove the valve cover and run compressed air in the cylinders and replace the valve seals with the cylinder head still on the block, so that way you won't have to take the head off or replace the head gasket.

My 2009 4Runner does the same thing occasionally, I wouldn't sweat it.
