New IS 300 Owner
Long time admirer, first time Lexus owner. I purchased an 02' IS 300. I'm the 3rd owner and it's got a little over 125K on the odometer. I'm a little nervous of that fact, but my 02 Expedition has about 126K so I guess thats not too far out of the park.
I've had several other vehicles that I've modified in the past and am looking forward to the aftermarket possibilities for this car. So far very impressed with the vehicle... I'm not impressed with the 20" rims that the previous owner installed though... so come tax season I'm going to swap to some 18" 5-Zigen Fn01r-C, black with a polished lip.
Anyway, here are some pics I took at the dealership and I'm going to be doing lots of research in the time to come!

Option Motors? I remember looking at this IS about 2 years ago. It had like 115K then and stock 17s, but it was already sold by the time I called.

just make sure your 90K service has been done since it has 125K miles. If you timing belt breaks then you will basically need a motor as it will bend a few valves and could possibly put a hole in a piston.

A reputable shop should be able to do this witout any issues. The only difference would be you would have genuine toyota parts at the dealership and the service would cost a lot more. If you take it to a local garage you can request they use genuine Toyota parts if you like. Honestly though many of those parts are all made by the same companies, just sold in different packages at different prices, I know this for fact as I have me and my brothers run our own garage. I did my 90K service myself without any troubles, also I would go ahead and do spark plugs because they are due at 100K but while you already doing that just as well do plugs.

Also forgot to mention this. The easiest way you can tell yourself if the 90K service has been done is to take the four 10mm nuts off of the engine cover, and take the cover off and then take the four alan head bolts out of the cover that says vvt-i and look at the belt and check for signs of wear and any oil leakage from the cam seals, also check and see if the belt says toyota on it, if you do not see any markings on the belt crank your engine but don't start it until you see white letters on the belt. If it has a Toyota belt on it then it probably has not been done, but thats not a definite, so check for belt wear and oil leakage.

definitely some great advice... I will get on that stuff soon! I don't actually drive it very much at all... I ride my motorcycle to and from work, and use my SUV for when the family goes out. So my car is only really for bad weather days and occasional driving.
I agree on the "rims are way too big" comment as well. I'm gonna go 18's most likely.
