Default Throttle Problems ??

Does anyone have a problem with thier IS300 not reacting right away to full throtle and feeling sluggish and then acclerates more at the top end ?

I Read somewhere about the is300 throtle only opening up 50%...??

Anyone else have a problem with this or have any idea whats up with it?

its a common problem on most all is300's, as you said the throttle only opens up 50%, i think there are ways to make it open up 100% as people have done it before i believe, also some sort of problem in the ecu that is known to cause this. i think you can upgrade your ecu, but if i'm not mistaken ive heard people say it still doesn't help much.

I just accept the fact that it's not a sports car.

But its not a sedan car either. There are no sedan cars at that time contain the I6 engine swapped from Supra. Actually it is a sport car in someway.

For the question, so I dont even know the throtle just open haft.. how do we know it?

try tightening the throttle cable a little. maybe its just loose.

another option is adding a spacer under the gas pedal

Thanks for the help ...
Even tho its not tech. a sports car it shouldnt have such a delayed reaction when accelerating... I researched the reason and the only answer i came up with was the only 50% open... but Im hoping to find a way to fix it..

How would a spacer help?? Kind makes no sense to me to use a spacer...?

if you put a spacer under the gas pedal and adjust the cable to idle right when that spacer is under there, and take the slack off the cable. there should be more distance between the pedal and the floor allowing the throttle to open up more when pushed from where it is normally with the spacer all the way to the floor.

This^ Tighten the throttle cable all the way. Your throttle should be nice and touchy after this.

You can port your throttle body as well. Also the little things....clean your throttle body and MAF sensor. Spark plugs....when was the last time this was changed?

The car gets closer to redline and engine revs but the car doesnt move until close to redline....

Car was serviced and checked out b4 I bought it...

try the throttle cable and MAF, doesn't sound like throttle cable but try it and see. Sounds more like MAF. When they get really dirty or go bad it can cause very bad hesitations in acceleration and make the car seem sluggish and non-responsive, you can remove it and use some MAF cleaner they sell at the parts store and try cleaning it and reinstalling it and see if that helps.

thats a different story than what you started the thread with. sounds like your car has other issues besides the throttle body.

have a mechanic pull the codes and check the maf sensor
