Default sr20det in lexus IS300?

so im cruzin around the local junk yard here in germany, and i happen uppon a 1989 nissan 240... talk to the guy and the auto tranny is bad. there are no rims on the car, and the interior is shot. i pop the hood and almost fell on the ground! there was a red top sr20det chillin. so i wonder if it will start and turned the key in the ignition... it cranked but the battery was dead. im wondering if i could swap this in to my 300? now before you flame me off the forum, keep in mind the beams is200 motor... same concept, stronger more proven motor is my train of thought. let me know what you think. if i cant do it, im thinking of putting it in a golf mk2 or in this junked out pulsar gtir thats in the yard as well. the motor is blown in that one. but its all wheel drive. im looking for a project and the car gods just dropped one in my lap... let me know what you think

its a tough call. i had an s14 that had an sr and it was fun. it wont work in the pulsar because the gtir awd and the s13 rwd motors are diff. its mild differences but you would end up buying alot of stuff to make it work.

now as far as the IS with swap it would be different but the SR and the 2JZGE are about the same hp and after all that work and money to do it you would probably be disappointed.

just get the s13 and put it together or sell it and fund your new "turbo my IS" project haha

agree ^ i dont know much about sylvias, but i had a friend that had one, i believe he had an s14 or s13 i cant remember, and they aren't really fast cars, just good drift cars and thats what he was building his to do. but he got in a bit of trouble and had to wind up selling the car and all the parts he had bought to build it to drift. i mean it would look cool to pop your hood and see the sr20 but i think when it comes to how the is will run you will be disappointed. i would take the money and turbo the 2jz or look for a nice gte swap. myself recently i have been thinking about buying a salvage is300 wrecked in the front end and getting an altezza front clip with the beams motor and 6 speed tranny, and cut the is300 in 2 and weld the altezza clip to it, then doing a gte swap on it. it would be a lot of work but it would be nice. and i found a salvage 03 5 speed is300 for 5g with 73k miles. i found an altezza clip with the motor for 3500 and i found a supra swap with ecu and all the wiring for 2500.

ill buy that 5 speed from you. and i like the idea. And on top of all that i blew up my SR and then built it all forged of course, upgraded turbo, injectors, etc. and a power fc.and it was still problematic. they are easy to spin bearings unless you do what i did and that was about 5 grand just in the motor to make it hold up

if i end up getting that salvage lexus ill sell you the tranny. i wouldnt have use for it anyways haha. i already have a spare 2jz motor and auto tranny from my 04 is300 that i let a friend drive last november and he totaled it. and if i get the money to buy the salvaged is300 and altezza clip ill have another 2jz and the the beams 4 cyl and a 6 speed tranny lol.
