Default IS300 guru's - your knowlege requested

While casually perusing my local Craigslist I came across these wheels for sale

with the following description:

"Complete set of Lexus IS300 alloy wheels, 2001 model year, with Bridgestone Turanza tires, wheels and tires never used"

I have owned probably 15 SC300/400's and these look like wheels from an SC, not an IS. So I emailed him and his response was:

"There were two different wheels for the IS300, the coupe and the xover. The standard coupe wheels were low profile for the sporty look of the car. I happen to have owned the yellow version. However, those wheels were good for nothing but driving fast on smooth surfaces and perfect weather. If you live in Southern California where it doesn't rain much and snow is an anamoly, the wheels are great for year round. If you live in Oklahoma like I do, those wheels are worthless half of the year. My intention was to swap wheels from the beginning of November to the end of February/early March to ensure better handling in the snowy/rainy weather. That never happened as I only had the vehicle for one winter season and bought the "all weather" wheels/tires after that, having suffered through not being able to get anywhere in adverse conditions. If you're interested in the wheels/tires, I'd be more than happy to refer you to the Lexus service department that would be more than happy to confirm what I'm writing you."

I'm an SC guru, not an IS guru. So tell me, is what he is saying true? I have never seen these on an IS stock, and am confused by the whole "yellow" thing

Thanks,
Jonny

i dont know what that guy is saying. alot of blah blah. i did make out that hes saying his IS is yellow.

long story short the early year IS300s came with either 17" 5 spoke wheels or these ugly 16" wheels. the 16s are actually pretty rare.
