Buying my first Lexus TODAY!!. Need advice.
Im picking up a 2001 Lexus IS300.
Car looks like this. I have ran the blue book on the car and im pretty sure im gettin a good deal on it but wanted to run it by the pros. It has a dent in the right rear quarter panel. I can fix that so im not to worried about it.. Everything else is good. 2001, 98k miles. Anything i should look for? Im paying 7500 for it. Basically someone i know that was going to trade it in to the dealer and is going to give it to me for the trade in value...
I should know sometime today if its 100% done deal.

Welcome! Where in WA you from? You should introduce yourself here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/pac...bs-thread.html
We have a pretty active group here in WA
7500 is higher than the trade-in value from what I am seeing on KBB
I would bump it down a bit to 6500 at least. Private party value is $6900 at good condition. Trade in value at good condition 5.3K. If this person was going to trade it in to a dealer I doubt they would offer over 5k for it.
Make sure maintenance has been done and up to date. If you have records then that's a plus. definitely make sure the 90K service has been done, if not then that's a huge reason to bump down the price over 1k easily.
What options does it have?

Where are you getting your value from?
If you go to www.nada.com
It shows average trade in is $6400. Clean retail is $11,000.
Wow, you go to KBB.com and its $7600 for private owner.. So i guess im not gettin as good a deal as i thought.
He is taking the car to the dealer and he said i can buy it for what they are going to give him....But we met up at around 7500... or 7000.

I would say go for the trade in value, because dealers usually lowball on trade in's so they can make money. Besides it is hard to find IS300's in that price range that have not been wrecked or have really high mileage.

Haha. I remember seeing that car with those rims.

I guess you are getting it from another member that is on here.
7500 is too much. That is Private party value. Trade in should be around 5500 or 6000 if it is clean. With the dent I would prob knock off another couple hundred dollars.
good luck
