Cool Wow another offset Question from a noob

Hello I am new to the forums and recently purchased a 2003 is300 sport design. I am in love with the work emotion wheels but dont really want to spend the cash so I found some Drag DR-31's that are identical.

The 18x8's only come in 2 offsets +48 and +38

Tire size would be 225/40/18 unless someone tells me I should go different

The car will be lowered on tein h tech springs so -.7 on the front -1 on the back(I do believe)

Which setup would work the best and not sit in to far, but not require any modification to the vehicle.

Any help you guys can give me would be awesome.

I did try to search I just wanted to get an answer based on my application, and you guys know these cars better than anyone else I have found

If you want to be more flush I'd recommend getting 18x9.5 +38 but you're going to need to stretch. Here's an old picture of my old wheels on my friends IS300, it's 19x9.5 +41 I think

You will be straight. You might rub a teeny bit up front on a full turn but nothing that will make you have to roll fenders.

Thanks to all of the members that helped me out with this inquiry, I ordered my wheels today Drag DR-31 18x8 +35 with some 225/40/18s the wheels are matte gun metal i wanted a look like Kirill Y.'s is but figured i would at least change the color to match all of the sport design stuff

Thanks again for all of those that made suggestions

you were better off going with the +48 offset. Our cars come with FWD offsets (+50 stock) so anything close to those numbers is the "safe" way of doing things. the people that suggested the +35 offset was a personal preference. you will most likely need to roll your fenders now.

Maybe a tad bit up front but it's straight for the rears. I have 8 +35 w/225 and no rubbing.

If I have to roll so be it, money is already spent, its better than having that crappy inset look with the nice front lines of the car, plus these wheels will only be on for the summer anyway. I would love to come to the SD events to bad my SD is South Dakota.

The sportdesign had a specially tuned suspension and the 11 spoke alloys. Any rubbing isn't worth it. They designed the car to fit specifically sized wheels.

If you wanted to do a worthwhile performance modification, you could get forged alloy wheels with ultra high performance tires like Pilot Sport A/S plus(I just got them and I love them) instead of bigger but not necessarily better wheels.

Default Save the pain

So I got the wheels on monday, put them on the car and rolling wasn't neccessary, but buying a set of vertex 15mm fenders and gutting the inner fender would probably do the trick along with shavin the rear fenders. Lucky enough discount tire direct is taking them back. If you want wheels to stick out 1.5 inches or so in the front these are the wheels that can make it happen. When I talked to the guy at discount he said they should have never let me order them, oh well live and learn, and I will definately buy from discount again they are awesome.
