Default To VVTI or not to VVTI...... Stressed out! lol

OK, I have been reading a lot on forums to find out what is better.

GTE VVTI or non VVTI? I Have a 2002 IS300 5 speed.....

Just wondering the Pros and Cons of each? What is the easier install? What is easier to tune?

Im just torn on this. I was originally going to go VVTI but then after talking to people they say its a lot harder to tune, a lack of aftermarket parts....

My plan was to run the stock ECU with Greddy Emanage Ultimate. I would like to single turbo as well and build some decent power (which i'm pretty sure i'll have to swap transmissions).

Can you guys just give me a few pros and cons? And FYI I work at a speed shop(our fastest car put out was 6.61@223mph), we have a chassis dyno, We deal direct with Greddy and Precision Turbo, etc.... I'm just used to Honda and this will be my first Toyota build.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it!

If you work at a shop then just have custom mounts and wiring harness made.

The vvti can "drop" in with stock GE motor mounts. The IS engine harness is also pretty simple to plug in.

non-vvti needs custom motor mounts and the wiring will be a lot different.

I am using stock ECU and Greddy Emanage Ultimate. My Greddy rep is going to get me some tuning info from their japanese tuners from the aristo. I heard it wasnt as bad on the 5 speed as the auto...

Keeping the IS ecu with a piggy back won't be hard to tune. There are guys running it just fine. Running a non vvti GTE would force him to run a full standalone or he'd be in limp mode since the IS ecu wouldn't see vvti at all.

And no the non vvti GTE does not work with stock mounts in an IS 300.
