Wrong Ignition Key!
I have a 2001 IS300 and cannot get the ignition key to turn. I mistakenly inserted my wife’s 2004 RX330 key in my ignition this morning and now when I use my key, the ignition will not move. No amount of jiggling the key and/or the steering wheel has had any effect. I have also tried the valet key for my car and still no joy (although I did not think that would work either).
I am wondering whether I have a mechanical problem with the ignition or if something occurred because of the transponder chip in my wife’s key. I am leaning toward mechanical because her key is on my key ring and is near the ignition when driving my car. That is, unless the chip in my key is not communicating properly because the key is now over 6 years old.
Has anyone overcome this problem previously? I did do a few searches, but did not see anything specific to the 1st Gen IS.
I will be marking the keys immediately so I can tell them apart more easily!
Thanks in advance for the help.

The problem is now fixed. It was a mechanical issue. A little judicious use of computer duster (compressed air), a bit of paper clip wire and "Voila"! I can now start my car again. Now to mark up those keys!
