Default Need Help!!! 01 IS Suspension Problem

There is a clunking noise coming from my rear passenger side wheel when I drive over cracks/small potholes on the road. What could be making this noise? (shock?, ball joint?, bushing?)

Thank you,
Scotty K

you don't say how many miles you have,
but my guess would be a blown shock (assuming that you're still running stock)

Only way to tell for sure is to get it up in the air and inspect it really. A bad shock can definitely do that, but so can any of the other suspension parts. For safety's sake, you should get that looked at ASAP. Let us know what happens.

what suspension are you riding on? OEM, springs, coilovers?

if you have something aftermarket in there you might want to go and make sure everything it torqued down to spec.

I’m new to this site so this is my first time posting

I have a 2004 IS300 (E-Shift) with 60,110 miles, and I’m experiencing a similar problem. I hear a clicking sound coming from my front driver’s side suspension.

I’ve taken my car to Lexus on three separate occasions (Lexus had my car for 1.5 months) and mechanics can duplicate the problem but can’t resolve it. Supposedly, they’ve replaced the front strut and all bushings, tightened the sway bar, and lubricated all suspension components. However, they’ve been unable to resolve the issue. Thus, a field technician (he’s suppose to be an expert on hard-to-resolve mechanical issues) is supposed to come during the latter part of May or early June to resolve the problem. Fortunately, everything has been free because I have an extended warranty that expires on 12/16/09 or 94K miles.
