I noticed several people saying that their IS 300 has an armrest as an option. My dealer said there is no such option. If you have one -- is it aftermarket or genuine Lexus and if it is Lexus do you have a part number. Thanks in advance

The armrest will become an option for the 2002 models coming out this summer. It has been rumored that you will be able to buy the armrest and get it installed into your 2001.

it says "there will be improvements to the center armrest..."

From all my sources it will not be an 'option' but rather the armrest has been redesigned and that design will be put into all the 2002 models. It certainly wouldn't be cost efficient to offer 2 armrests, especially when the original armrest was so maligned by the media.

The Lexus dealers have said if the mounting points are the same they will offer the part as a replacement part but none of the dealers I have spoken to have had their hands on the 2002 yet.

Stirs - Most of us here (Including myself) get the '02 armrest as a part of our negociated when we bought our car. Although, it is not available Until September or sometime down the road. According to the Lexus Technician that I spoken to he said the '02 IS armrest will fit perfectly in our car . I hope this help.
