I am trying to work a deal with the lexus dealer here in KC. But my question is this, how much should I be ready to shell out? Are these cars really going for full boat sticker? Should I try to talk them down, if so how much?
Thanks in advance

I Haven't purchased one (im waiting for the '02 model), but i can tell you that they need to make room for the 02's, i would bet you can get it fully loaded for 31-32K, but any less than that might be pushing it...they're supposed to be about 34K....

im not sure what to say. of course they want full price for it. i suppose if they won't budge, they won't budge, but try and shop around - check out other dealerships...see if they will make a better offer, then if u really want that car at the original dealership, you can use the other offer as bargaining power...
good luck

I had no idea there is only one lexus dealership in or near KC, missouri....maybe it isn't worth the effort. i suppse if you waited long enough, the 02's would be available, hence the 01's would go down in price undoubtedly. but those aren't scheduled for release until august....i dunno what to say...sorry i can't offer any help

dude, teh dealer won't budge b/c he knows that he's got you since there are no others in the state. Explain to him you're serious, and will either 1) travel out of state to purchase ( a long drive, but if it means saving a few grand, the choice is obvious), or 2)consider a different car all together where the dealership is more friendly (BMW, Mercedes...).
Keep in min dthough that if you do buy out of state you will have to drive there every time you have a warrante issue...

Buy at discount if they have car
I bought my IS 300 with every option on it for $29,800!
How, it was a never titled MSO car. This is a car used by Lexus/Toyota executive for several thousand miles. They are well maintained and washed every day. The day I bought mine Jeff Ogden of the Miami Dolphins was buying a black IS the same way. Finally a financially responsible football player. JM Lexus also had another silver one like mine (fully loaded) with 9415 miles and never titled so you get full warranty from that day forward. The price $28,966 - sticker $35K nice savings for a car built not to shake, rattle and fall apart.

Ktrends, the dealer in Oklahoma City was selling IS's w/ leather package, moonroof, and homelink system for $30.995 (they wouldn't budge on this very much either). Too bad its a six hour drive for you, but you can try priceline.com and see what you can get, I got a counteroffer from priceline for a fully loaded IS including LSD and the wood trim for $30,900. The only prob is that the only color they would offer it in was spectra blue, and my parents didn't want that color.

New to the forum here.
The best deal I could negotiate with my local Lexus dealer was a cap cost of $31,455. The sticker was just a tad over $34,000.
It's interesting, sounds like perhaps these cars are more sought after in other markets throughout the U.S.
Anyway, the wife and I couldn't be happier. It's a hell of a car!

I just purchased a loaded IS, has everything but a real spoiler for $31,900 here in Dallas. I had two dealers bidding for my business. I purchased the car at the end of the month. I think the dealers are trying to get rid of the 01 to make room for 02's. They told me that when the 02 come out that they would sell for the sticker price.
