This will replace the G20. its called the G35 signifying the new 3.5 liter V6. Its rumored to have at least 250bhp, thats bhp and not hp. Its RWD and will share Z car suspension components since they are on the same platform (as is the upcoming GTR). Itll be priced in the high 20's to low 30's and will be on sale in the Spring of 2002. Theres much more but I forget.

And yes, those rear lights are LED's.

For those of you saying "Hey, but thats a Nissan." Yes, its a Nissan in the JDM and is sold as the Skyline. Not the GTR, the skyline. They are now 2 different name lines. Infiniti may also give it AWD since the Skyline will be getting AWD shortly. A 5 speed manumatic looks to be standard and a manual is not known as of now. i wouldnt be surprised to see a 6 speed since the Z (platform mate) is getting one. Also, there will be a coupe version.

It's closer to the dimensions of the GS series:

IS: 176.6"L X 67.7"W X 55.5"H
Skyline: 184.0"L X 68.9"W X 57.9"H
GS: 189.2"L X 70.9"W X 56.7"H

...so I actually believe it to be a GS competitor, not an IS competitor. I also expect weight to be up there as well, putting power-to-weight right between that of the GS300 and GS400.

And where have you heard the "G35" designation? Could you possibly be confusing the "V35" internal designation (remember the R34, R33, R32, etc.)? I hope it's not pure speculation.

No, it has officialy been called the G35. Go to www.infintinews.com. They even have a little 'preview', a blurb, saying its the G35 and with a pic. Its an IS/3/A4 competitor. Its only about 3-5 inches longer than the IS. its just that its wheelbase is 111 inches which allows room for 5 people and not 2.5 people like the IS and 3. Believe, its an IS competitor. I know what Im talking about when it comes to Infiniti.

There's something very wrong with the above math.

There's 25.4mm to the inch.

And being that Nissan provided the specs in metric and not English, I still maintain that it is sized closer to the GS series.

Whatever the math comes out to, its a 3/A4/IS/X type competitor for sure.

So a car closer in size to the 5-series/GS/E-class...

5-series: 111.4"WB X 188.0"L X 70.9"W X 55.7"H
GS: 110.2"WB X 189.2"L X 70.9"W X 56.7"H
E-class: 111.5"WB X 189.4"L X 70.8"W X 56.7"
Skyline: 112.2"WB X 184.0"L X 68.9"W X 57.9"H
IS: 105.1"WB X 176.6"L X 67.7"W X 55.5"H

...and powered with a bigger displacement engine more in-line with the 5-series/GS/E-class

5-series: 530i - 3.0L 225hp/214lb-ft, 540i - 4.0L 282hp/324lb-ft
GS: GS300 - 3.0L 220hp/220lb-ft, GS430 - 4.3L 300hp/325lb-ft
E-class: E320 - 3.2L 221hp/232lb-ft, E430 - 4.3L 275hp/295ft-lb
Skyline - 3.5L 250+hp
IS300 - 3.0L 215hp/217lb-ft

...is still going to be an IS300 competitor? Would you be so kind as to reveal your reasoning?

And the pricing listed is incredibly optimistic, unless Nissan is bent on redefining the term "stripper" (and consequently running the prestige of the marque into the dirt). Even conceeding the fantastic possibility that Nissan found a secret stash of elves to build the new Skyline for free labour, that kind of out-of-the-showroom pricing will decimate all sales of the I30/I35 and Maxima GLE/SE.

Is there a possible error in your yen-to-dollars conversion too?

thank god they've separated the Skyline from the GT-R.

I think maybe the GT-R will look something like this except with 2 doors. Scary.

Infiniti is rewriting the book i guess. I like the IS a lot except those funky rear lights but this car is aggressive yet understatedly classy. I like it more but thats my opinion. its an IS competitor and from the power rumors and possible sport version (like an M3), its going to eat the comp alive. Im telling my mom to hold off for this car, she likes it too good for me

Oh, you just might shudder yet.

Try this concept from BestCar:

If there is to be a GT-R from currently Renault-controlled Nissan, it'd have to be based off a shared platform; Renault isn't going to let let Nissan keep any pet projects w/o any regard for the bottom line. And being that this Skyine is almost as large as the 5-series/GS/E-class, it would seem to be the right platform to build the GT-R on, which wouldn't be the case were it sized closer to the Altezza.
