Question

We all know that nice looking rims will make our car look (obviously) nice and faster (note the word look). One thing I'd like to know is where can you find a real light performance wheels. There are a lot fo them that look good but they are heavier than a stock steel rim.

With heavier rims we know that the crank/engine will have a harder time turning them than a wheel that is lighter.
Has anyone given this issue a thought? Thanks in advance for any response and let's keep those beemers in our rear view mirror.

For truly LIGHT performance wheels, look no further than most of the volkracing wheels in their F-0 series.

www.volkracing.co.jp

models such as WINNING, CHALLENGE, TE, SE, ARE ALL 1-piece, forged wheels, extremely light and strong materials with excellent workmanship. for perfromace, stay w/18s, as do most japanese racing tuner cars.

gs4will,

Thanks for the reply! Are there local dealers for this wheel or do I have to order them from Japan. Come to think
of it, I'll be going to Japan soon. Maybe I can just hand-carry them

I found someone organizing a group buy here in ClubLexus. He needs to have at least 50 sets to have a group buy. Check out the classified section in ClubLexus if you are interested. I believe he has at least 25 people in his list.

E,

sorry for the late response.

i know one shop here in LA has very good prices on the volks. let me know if you see any volk wheels you like. if you want light weight, the volks forged wheels are the way to go.
the manaray wheels group buy is attractive if you like the rim style. those wheels are not expensive in japan in the first place. good looking though imo.

i was visiting japan last year and thought about carrying the rims back, but my stay was not long enough for them to deliever the rims to my hotel. it really depends on your selection, sometimes the prices do not difffer that much compare to US. but the style i had in mind would have cost me only $2k in tokyo, instead of $3k here in the US.
