Hey guys,
Completley new to this forum. I actually don't own a Lexus. Not yet. Maybe never? But I've become a member to acquire more knowledge of these people cars which intrigue me quit a bit. Which makes me a good canidate for one.
I'm currently a 21 yr old dental hygiene student in Rochester MN, and plan attending school elsewhere to become a Dentist.
My ? is, what do you guys think of the IS3 V.S. the GS3 V.S. a 3 series bimmer. I know this is a IS forum, so I expect some suttle favoritism to the IS series models. But honestly.
I like all 3, and would just like some feedback.

here's why i traded my car in for the IS300 (trade a '99 m3). the reason i didnt get an e46 (3series) was it costed 8k more than the is300 and only has manual option advantage. to me, that is not worth the extra 8k. i like the styling of the is300 better and the steering feel also. with the extra 8k, i can slap a turbo on that car and blows door off 3series! as for the gs300, it doesnt hold much interest for me. its just not sporty enough.

First of all I would definitely remove the 3 series from the list. It's not because I own a Lexus, but the fact is there just isn't the value for you to spend that much money. 3 series is about the size of the IS but the price of a GS. Performance on the 3s are okay but like what Lexus_IS300 said, with the extra cash you can easily mod the best inline six engine in the world now (2JZ-GE BABY!!!).
Of most of my relatives in my famliy there has been many BMWs (318ti 328i 528i 528i 528i 540ia 735i 740i) And the only one that didn't have problems is the 740i (well, just not as much.) Miscellaneous problems can get you really annoyed. For example all 3 528is stalled on the freeway at least twice. 328i's dash came apart.
As for the GS and IS........ it's really a matter of taste and budget. If you like something that's sportier and funner to drive, then the IS300 would be a better choice, especially when the 5-speed comes out. GS300 has more luxury, more room, more comfortable. Sportiness? Not as much but hey you can always add those later
If you like something roomy and comfortable yet high performance and has the budget then go with GS300. If you still have the budget but would like something that's very fun to drive out of the box, then IS would be a better choice.
Go test drive and find out for yourself. You won't be rejected by the dealer like what you'll be treated like over at Bummer! (I mean Bimmer)
