getting an IS
i'm so excited, we are now positive about purchasing an is300 for me. i've been on this forum for awhile, but on the lx470 because my dad owns one, but theres not much you can do with it. but anyways, i was wondering, what is there to know about the IS jus to get to know it better?

Well all i can say is *hug hug hug* good for you I hadn't driven the IS for about a week and i honest to god forgot how awesome that car is. The handling, acceleration, it's a refined sports sedan. No wonder Japanese street racers have modified Altezzas, it's just an awesome car. Beats the C class and Audis A3/S3 by miles, god the Audi 3s suck, man...did i tell you they suck? Cause they do, and did i tell you that the IS is phenonmenal?

haha well its great to hear this, i always thought the IS was alittle underpowered. i looked around is300.net and have came across some forum saying that it actually wasn't.

The climate control also has a built-in quirk....the tendency to default to the recirculate setting instead of fresh-air. You often have to push the button on the center-**** for the fresh-air setting. Fortunately, it does this on its own (properly) when you really need fresh air, as during defrost.
If you can tolerate the little things I mentioned, the IS is a superb car....one of the best on the marketplace, with bulletproof reliability. Consumer Reports just listed it and the Honda CRV as the most reliable of any vehicles on the road.

never understood why some people would say that the is300 is underpowered for several reasons, especially that comment is inherently relative and subjective. next time while seeking power, try either the amg or honda civic with racing sticker and loud exterior color.

congratulations
Thats awesome. I just got my IS about 8 months ago and its freakin awesome. I was a little concerned about driving it in Missouri weather but so far it has handled well. We just got an ice/snow storm last week and I used the "snow" button to get me places. Im sure you get plenty of bad weather where youre from so all I can recommend is a good set of snow tires or all season tires (which is what I have) for the winter. Mine came with summer tires and I didnt wanna find out the hard way if handled well in the snow so I bought a new set.
