Default IS 430 Release

Just to set it straight, there will not be an IS 430. I am in on the project and it was a one-off through Rod Millen......period. The next gen body & chassis is more adept to the larger engine but there are not plans for that one either at this time. Getting closer, next gen will have two engine options, one being a 3.5 V-6.

lexopolis is right, there will be an IS250 and an IS350. One with 220 or so HP and the other with 325 or 330hp. There will also be a hardtop convertible coming out later. AWD will be an available option for the IS250.

Yes,
several of us stated this almost a year ago. This was verified through very reliable sources within Lexus New Product Development, Not the Sales/Marketing group. Nothing against them, but let's just say only some of them give out accurate information. i.e. Elizabeth gives out reliable info.

Also to clarify further, Lexus will not be releasing an IS430 using the current platform, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a privateer out there currently building one .

Got very reliable sources for that info too !

I agree with rominl and RMMGS4 that it is highly unlikely that Lexus is going to offer a V8 engine on our current IS and the next release. In a marketing perspective, IS300 has been positioned to directly complete with sports sedan segment ( like BMW 3-series). This is no need for Lexus to throw in a V8 engine.

IMO, I personally speculate that our next IS300 will base on the platform of Crown Athlete. If you aware from the Tokyo Auto Show early this year. The release the new Crown Athlete with two V6 engine package offers:

3GR-FSE
DisplacementF2.994L
Maximum PowermNETnF188kWm256PSn/6,200r.p.m.
Maximum TorquemNETnF314NEmm32.0kgEmn/3,600r.p.m.

4GR-FSE
DisplacementF2.499L
Maximum PowermNETnF158kWm215PSn/6,400r.p.m.
Maximum TorquemNETnF260NEmm26.5kgEmn/3,800r.p.m.

The upcoming new GS300 has been equipped with the 3GR-FSE engine and AWD option. In my opinion, the next IS will also have the same package.

By the way, our current IS platform has AWD package already in Japan. The Altezza Ghia (Sportcross) offers AWD option.

well to make it clear, imho i think lexus SHOULD do something with power, just to compete with the m3, s4, and the c32. the market is going to be slim, probably lexus isn't even going to make much money from it. however it's all about image and teh bragging right. in the current automobile market, this is very necessary

however, it's from the tradition of lexus that makes me think they won't have is430 coming out. they just dont' care about power. that's just how it is now. we all hope it will change of course
