I need to get one of the first IS300's they came out with so its cheaper. I know nothing about the IS300's so I need help picking the one I need. This car will never get turbo'd or sc'd, and I probably wont do anything except a carputer/stereo/rims. I will definetely swap out the queer chrome see-thru tailights.
1. I need a stick shift. Should I get a true Manual or E-Shift?
2. I need the crappiest stereo possible because I have my own going in. check sig
3. Do all IS300's have the 2JZ-GT(not GTE) engine?
4. I have read about LSD so I need one of those.
5. What is the exact order from the base model to the best offered.

1. 5-speed Manual was first offered on the 2002 model
2. comes standard with Lexus AM/FM/cassette eight-speaker 240-watt (maximum power) Premium Sound System with in-dash, single-feed, six-disc CD auto-changer
3. all IS300's come with the 2JZ-GE engine
4. LSD is definatly essential to have

The factory IS300 stereo is anything BUT crappy. By my standards, it is superb. I really don't notice much if any difference between it and the more expensive Mark Levinsons, and believe me, I listen to HARD stuff.....AC/DC, Def Leppard, Accept, WASP, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Quiet Riot, etc.......

Check out the factory unit and see if you agree with me before you spend time and money replacing it.

I have a 92 ES and had a 01 IS for a month maybe. You wil not miss the ES at all. Even though the IS has smaller dimensions it feels bigger. It has details the ES can only dream off. It has all the latest tech, HIDs, VSC, 8 way power seats etc etc

You can find cloth IS 300s with sunroof but they are rare.

watch out for cd'rs in the cd changer
some people have had problems with jamming

and be sure to xpel that **** to save yourself from rockchips galore

yup the cloth Is300 are rare, i happened to have one with moonroof, pretty much had everything but the suede seats, got it really cheap in 2001
