I just got a 2004 is300 and i and currently looking to put on full Exhaust (headers, y, etc.) i have been readin some posts and i am just tryin to re assure myself that if i put on new exhaust the SRT intake with ECU mod is pointless just get a Injen intake or other intake w/o an ecu mod?? Thanks for alot and after having an 11 sec mustang this car is just as much fun!!

Welcome. Where in Florida are you at? We are having a meet @ Lexus of Tampa Bay next Sunday. If you are in the area check it out. You can get a lot of good ideas.

To respond to your question there are two ways you can go. You can go either with the SRT w/ Race ECU or you can go with another intake (PLP, Injen, ete) and get a SAFC 2. Both set-ups are going to run you the same price approximately. There is more tuning ability with the SAFC in my opinion. Hope this helps.

There are lots of IS300 posts over at IS300.net if you are not familiar with it. Good luck.

I am in the Ft Lauderdale area!!! sorry but i wish i could make it. what is safc? But it is NOT pointless to get the ECU mod with the SRT intake or should i just save a buck and get an INJEN or a more basic intake. Sorry if i sound stupid but these new "pocket rocket" motors are new to me!!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELPPPP!!!!

With the SAFC it will let you add or take away fuel at certain points of the RPM and throttle range. If you take it to a tuner they can set the air/fuel mixture to the correct amount. Here is the detail from the Apexi site:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/electronics_safc.asp

If I were you I would just get the Injen and the SAFC route.

Are you planning on going forced induction at all?
