Question hit pothole control arms bent is there any way this may be covered under warranty?

i hit a relatively small pothole today, alignment got really messed up so i took it into the dealership and they told me that they could not cover this under warranty. the estimate came out to $1200. has this happened to any of you before? if so did they give you the same answer or were you able to get this covered under the lexus warranty. also, will my insurance cover this kind of damage? any help at all with this would be greatly appreciated. thanks alot guys.

Not a warranty issue, but I'm sure your insurance would cover it, providing that it is under your comprehensive deductible. You might also check with whatever dept. is in charge of the road maintenance in your area, they might be willing to help you since they are supposed to keep up the roads.

Definitely a comp claim. But sometimes it can pass as a collision claim considering the damage was done to the car from an object on the road. Depending on your ins. company...comp claims are non chargeable losses which should not affect your premium. But double check with your carrier to be safe.

Default thanks so much

thanks for the great info...i cant always count on clublexus members to answer my questions. on that note, one additional question. replacing the control arms, is that going to have any lasting negative affects on my car? ive heard that after you replace the control arms, you have to frequently reallign your tires.

thanks again

As long as the control arms are put back to spec, you shouldn't have alignment probs. Now, riding on bent control arms...then thats the time to worry about alignment issues. good luck!
