new style IS3XX?
anyone know if the new IS is coming in 05 or 06? To me 06 seems most likely as no new pictures have been released. Also, does anyone have an hang ups on buying a new model style the first year out? How was the 01 in its first year. The reason I ask is I made the mistake of buying a 02 Audi A4 which has been riddled with problems

Lexus Fanatic
2001 IS300
The 2001 was reliable except for a slight glitch in the E-Shift transmission ECU with some VIN's and a factory service bulletin and reprogramming. ( which really didn't do much to address it ). There was also a recall to replace a sheet plastic panel on the underbody of some of the VIN's, too. Neither of these were safety-related.
Lexus is one of the safest buys on the market for a first year model. Audi is not.

The front looks like the IS, the side view looks like the SC, and the rear doesn't look at all
as far as the small images show
Hopefully we have somebody on this forum from the Press, they should have gotten a Press Kit with those images, or they can access them on the web

What is even more interesting is the fact that they talk about a V8.
There have been rumors on the new GS and LS as well that talk about a 5.0-V8 with 400hp,
with GT versions that have 200 hp electric motors + the V8 for the upcoming LS, and I presume the GS
So I wonder what engine will go into the IS ? 3.5lV6 - 300hp (like inGS350GT?) and a V8 option ?
I wonder if more specific info was given during the Press conference today

very confusion, coz' i read that they would have the is350GT, which is a 300hp 3.5v6 engine + 170hp electric for a total of 470 hp. that setup would be found on gs350gt too. the ls500gt would be a 400hp 5v8 engine + 200hp electric for a total of 600hp.
coz' if lexus has this hybrid setup in mind on the IS, i can't see how they can market the v8 version, which is more expensive and yet less hp?

No what I see that could happen, if the GS350GT rumor is right.
IS350 (V6-3.5L with 300HP) - base
IS500 (V8-5.0L with 400HP) - upscale
IS350GT (V6-3.5L with 300HP + 170HP electric) - Lexus M/AMG division
GS350 (V6-3.5L with 300HP) - base
GS500 (V8-5.0L with 400HP) - upscale
GS350GT (V6-3.5L with 300HP + 170HP electric) - Lexus M/AMG division
GS500GT (V8-5.0L with 400HP + 200HP electric) - Lexus M/AMG division
I see where you are coming from with the 350GT not being very competitive with the 500 V8, but look at the RX330 and the RX400h, performance is about the same.
I really wonder if you can add the electric HP to the V6 or V8 HP figures ??

Ok, the next IS is not going to have as a base engine 300bhp. That's ludicrous.
Think more in the neighborhood of 240-250 bhp for the base version.
Second,
you all can see many pics of the LF-C concept at
www.wieck.com
then go to "public" tab on the left
and then type in "LEXUS" in the search box and hit enter.
you'll see like 20 pics of the LF-C from all angles.
