Intake (JoeZ vr. Takeda) And Heat soaking
Im torn between both. Has anyone had both and stuck with one or the other . Also i live in Florida and i hear that having a cone air filter is prone to heat soaking when adding one of theses intakes? Any info helps Thanks!

Yep, I've had both, and prefer the Takeda. I was the first person on this forum to use it, and I still like it after all these years. When I bought mine, they only came in the silver color. I've since had mine ceramic coated black.
I bought it because I was intrigued by the design and the fact that it kept part of the stock airbox and the stock flapper valve. The JoeZ design is also fine IMO, but I like the Takeda better.

your flap opens up and thats sucking the engine bay air. explain your heatsoak lol you will be fine with any intake. I prefer takeda cause it looks stock and has a nicer sound. with the joe z it just gives it a little different look with a smoother air flow because you don't have the ribbed pipe and small air resonator box.

Weren't there people saying the Takeda actually caused HP loss? I looked through several threads before deciding on the HPS intake because I couldn't justify spending that much on an intake to lose power. I went with HPS thinking they were in stock but looks like they're on backorder too. Been waiting a month so far.

Here's how I look at it.... I have a takeda intake. I do at times experience heatsoak but I also experienced heat soak with the stock intake as well. I only experience heatsoak when sitting in bumper to bumper traffic in 90+ degree weather and the AC on. This is common in any high compression engine, especially when you are pushing around 500 to the crank. Once you get cruising though you can feel the engine breathe a lot better and all that hot air blows out of the bay. The takeda I think had better design when WOT and when moving... I think the car breathes better and sounds better. But then again I think cone filters are superior to drop in panel filter, but maybe I am old school like that.

when the temp gets high the ECU pulls timing to prevent damage, also the air is less dense so less power, and AC draws engine power. We know this well in AZ. Heat kills the power in all cars. Generally 82-84 degrees is where I see the car start to lose power Stock is the best, but if I were to do one I would do the Takeda . MotoIQ showed something like 25 HP with the K&N. Not sure how repeatable that gain is though

I've had experience with a Joe Z tube and an HPS tube. Both are excellently made products but I noticed zero differences from stock in terms of performance. The heat soak issue has been brought up many times but truth is there really is no benefit (power wise) to altering the F's intake system. For a sound improvement go with the Takeda intake, but once you get an exhaust and/or headers the intake sound will not be as noticeable.
