Best Street Tire for drag racing
Well I made the mistake of putting Ultra high performance goodyear all season tires on my 18x9 light wheels; these tires suck and I can not get anything better than a 2.0 60'. I try all tire pressures and been two the track multiples times; I am really frustrated...
I don't want to buy a dedicated set of drag radials since I only go drag racing maybe 5-10 times a year. I want street tires that provide the best 60's; my understanding is that soft wall tires are the best for launching. Right now I have a square setup with 255/45/18, I think I can go to 265/40 or a 275/40.
Who has cut the best 60' on street tires? what tires were they running?
I was able to cut a 1.6 60' in my wrx with general UHP exclaim tires 215/40/17

Max Performance Summer Category:
You would probably be best served with Michelin Pilot Super Sport or Yokohama Advan V105
Extreme Performance Summer Category:
I don't have experience with any tires from this category, but I just researched and purchased a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-71Rs and fully expect them to be the best all around tire in the category. My guess is they will be very good at launch.
You could go more aggressive than that, but then you'd be driving a track tire on the street.
