won't know the full estimate til Tuesday. as of right now the estimate is 15k. They still need to cut the body panels off to see the damage underneath. This waiting crap sucks.

Look up your car's value on KBB/NADA (even though insurance co's generally use other sources).
Generally to total it the repair cost is at least 67-70% of the car's value.

Or, they may apply this formula, which is the Total Loss Formula (TLF):
Cost of Repair + Salvage Value > Actual Cash Value

Yeah, I know you're the plaintiff here, but you should never steal a big rig's apex going into a right turn... Some semis even have stickers that call the left side the "passing side" and the right side "suicide". It may look like they're going to take the outside lane, but they do that to get the trailer across. That gap disappears VERY quickly after they swing the turn out wide. Lesson learned I guess.

I hope the insurance company does the right thing and totals it. That roofline and rear quarter panel are part of the structure of the car and they're completely compromised. I'm glad you walked cuz that crush line came pretty close to the front cabin. Good luck with everything!

I'm aware of how rigs operate, I've held and used a class A for the last 8 years. The area where the accident occurred was in the port of Oakland, where its normal for rigs such as the one involved in the accident to park in the middle of the street. Now after sitting behind the rig for 5 minuets and not one turn signal indication, what is one to think? The intersection had been clear the whole time, so one can assume the rig is parked Still waiting on the insurance at the moment. Estimate cost now at 28k

If they fix that car, trade it in at Carmax as soon as you get it and walk away...

I believe total lost is 55% value of the car worth of damage.

Its definitely getting close. The car will never be the same. Get diminished value and offload it asap if they fix it.

Well guys it was good while it lasted. The car is now a total loss. Haven't decided what's next but head over to the classifieds for a few things I'll be selling.
