Default Revs will not climb if I rev up in neutral while drivng

Hey guys was wondering if this is normal. When I rev my engine while the car is parked or stopped in neutral it revs up like normal. If I am cruising down the road and drop it into neutral and try to rev up the motor its sluggish and the rpms dont want to climb as quickly. IS THIS NORMAL ?? ANYONE NOTICE THIS BEFORE ?

Called the SA and he said he would ask

Thanks in advance guys !

Its normal, even if you floor the gas pedal it stops at a certain rpm. I'm assuming to protect the engine. If my I/H/E combo and whenever I drive by my friends, I want to throw the car into neutral and hit the limiter but I remember the car wont allow it

Thanks for the quick reply buddy. I was assuming it was a protection mechanism but wasnt sure. Now with the exhaust sometime you want to rev it up on a friend or whatever and it doesnt climb normally. LOL

Bring your car to about 4-5500 RPM in third and downshift.
The revmatch on our cars is prettier than any motion picture score.

^^^ i often do this since it is much easier than putting it in neutral, especially when you're in sport mode + manual.

LOL Thats what I do to roll up on someone. Approach the BMW....err ...I mean car from the rear and drop a few gears to rev match. The Joe Z sounds insane when you rev match
