PSS are amazing tires - the best available. but the next 2 or 3 below the PSS are also very, very good tires.

Although, I don't have an IS-F, I cannot recommend Michelin Pilot Super Sport enough. They are hands down the best tires I have ever used.

I have tried my share of many summer performance tires (Kumho ECSTA, Continental ExtremeContact DW, Stock OEM Michelin Pilot Primacy, Michelin Pilot A/S 3 etc.), but nothing in the summer holds a candle to the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. I have had them for two summers now in 205/45/17.

They simply defy common sense. All of the other max performance tires I had in the past were noisy, harsh and very unpredictable on non-perfect surface. Yet, the Michelin PSS are extremely refined, quiet and very consistent while being incredibly sticky, confidence inspiring, responsive and handle very well. I don't know how Michelin manages to make a tire so refined and quiet without any compromises.

I'd like to read more discussion on alternatives since our preferred rear tire size is nearly almost impossible to get in PSS. Also, what about 275/35? It is actually in stock. It is .6" taller than OEM vs .4" shorter with the 275/30 size. Is this difference really that big a deal?

Anyone tried the Michelin Pilot A/S?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+A%2FS+Plus+ZP

I'm moving out of CA and need an Ultra High Performance All Season tire.

My PS2's are down to 4/32's and are noisy as hell.

Why not consider the newer Pilot A/S3's? From reviews it sounds like a superior tire in almost every way.

I'll be curious to hear what you think about these after you have a few miles on them.

That is true of any car. The biggest handling upgrade you can make is always the tires. (Although there are limits, throwing a set of R compounds on an otherwise stock car can be a recipe for disaster!)

I'll agree that the PSS is the best compromise between tread wear and traction available now in a summer tire. The PSS is a pretty old tire, I'm hoping Michelin will introduce a new, better replacement before I have to shop for summer tires again.

Same. These may end up being another good choice if they add the right sizes. Compared to PSS though, they are on the heavier side similar to the S-04s

My RE-71Rs arrived. I'll get them mounted soon. I opted for 225/35/19 and 255/35/19 not perfect sizes but close enough. They look awesome....
