Default Tightening the parking brake

I was wondering if there is any way to easily adjust the parking brake so it bites tighter. I took it to Lexus of Pohanka and they told me that it's normal in a Lexus car to have to press the parking brake all the way to the carpet to get it to engage. I immediately debunked this when I recieved a loaner and engaged the parking brake and it grabs a lot sooner.

It's not exactly easy, but it's not hard either. You first must loosen the cable at the pedal under the dash. Kind of a pain. Then you need to jack up the rear of the car and adjust the brake shoes on each of the wheels. I tighten them until the rotor won't move, then back off 3 clicks. If you are familiar with adjusting drum brakes, this is pretty easy. If you are not, it will be a learning experience you won't soon forget. Once the wheel brakes are properly adjusted, then you tighten the cable on the pedal until the wheels lock, then back off a few turns until you get five clicks before the brakes set.

I have a steep incline at one end of my driveway, and I tested the brake there. With the factory adjustment, the car just rolled down to the street instantly. Now it holds even in D.

I though about making a quick video of the whole thing, but I didn't have a camera person to shoot for me, and I really don't want to handle my camera with brake dust on my gloved hands.

I just had the tech do it when she was there for oil recently. It was the first thing I noticed about my F. The parking brake is loose as hell. My LS460 had an auto P brake but ALL of my other cars would engage pretty quick. Just felt strange

If it's like others, I'm assuming it's a horse shoe inside the rear rotor top hats? They have an adjustable gear which widens the horse shoe. When I've adjusted emergency brakes , it's to where I hear I slight metal scraping when turning the rotor.

It's a standard drum brake without the auto adjusters. It's tiny compared to a real drum brake, but it isn't intended to stop the car at speed, only to hold the car when stopped. Never heard it called a horseshoe before, but it's not a bad analogy.
