Default Oem lexus ipod kit

well I need a new iPod...

when I purchased the oem lexus iPod kit waaay back
I was using a iPod with a click wheel.
I know they have advanced over the years and Im wondering if anyone can confirm that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gen IPOD TOUCH will work with the iPod kit?

I believe the gen 5 iPods have the lightning connector and not the old style connector so they won't work for me

they will work. I'am using a 4th gen touch. One thing I have just ordered is this:

Amazon.com: ViseeO Tune2air WMA1000 - Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for Car Audio Integration: Cell Phones & Accessories Amazon.com: ViseeO Tune2air WMA1000 - Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for Car Audio Integration: Cell Phones & Accessories

this should let you stream via bluetooth using the existing OEM kit and also media controls of the Lex.

I don't know if this helps, but I have a 7th Gen Nano and it works just fine with the OEM iPod kit. It has the lightning connector, so I just had to buy the adapter that Apple sells (~$29). I like the idea of the Tune2air above much better though (with the exception that it won't charge the iPod).

Presumably if you go this route you would loose the ability to take calls though?

I have '12 and it has built in Bluetooth (I actually thought previous models have this too?) but you can't browse music and such, just skip songs

You don't loose the ability to take calls. I pair the phone function on my iPhone with the car and then audio function for music through the tune2air. Works fine.

Hello everyone,
This thread is from 7 years ago, but I have a question about the OEM iPod kit. I have a Lexus IS350 2007 NAV + ML, and I mostly use Spotify for listening.
Can you confirm if the OEM iPod integration kit + 30pin to lightning adapter works with Spotify? I wonder if there are better alternatives to have music control with the infotainment and steering wheel buttons?
Thanks

I seriously doubt it works. I think I may have tried in the past and wasn't successful. For Spotify, you are likely better off with either a bluetooth adapter or Grom Vline2.
