Default PPE catless headers with Borla exhaust sound?

Hey Guys,

Im currently looking at possibly purchasing a 09 ISF with 29k miles on it. The previous owner had a Lexus dealer had PPE headers that are catless and Borla exhaust installed. The dealership that is selling the vehicle is 5 hours away and while i don't mind driving that far to go buy a car, i want to ask yalls opinion of the sound of this set up before i make the drive. I have searched the forums and youtube and only found some really rough cellphone videos. I really want this vehicle to remain classy but have a aggressive sound to it (without a drone). Are there are any guys on here with this set up or have heard something similar. Thanks so much! (Btw, does the cat being removed change the sound at all in and of itself?)

it sounds good, if you dont like it you can always just find and put a stock exhaust on.

That'll be my set up once I install my headers! I'm sure it'll be intoxicating.

This is the exact setup I have, and mine might be one of the "really rough cell phone videos" you've seen out YouTube.

I absolutely love the setup and I wouldn't consider it too loud at all. My wife is able to ride in the car and even drive it on occasion and not complain about it, so that tells me it's well within the toleration levels of most people because she HATES loud things (cars, husbands, kids...).

Oh by the way, I'm pretty sure it's a federal law that if any dealer sells a vehicle it MUST come with catalytic converters. And if cats are aren't installed they need to at least include them with the vehicle for you to install. You should mention that to them so they will give you the cats with the car. Or maybe buy it first and then mention it to them after the fact so they'll be forced to give them to you at no extra cost or else face a $25K EPA fine.

Lexus ISF w/PPE Headers & Borla Exhaust (no cats) - YouTube

Sounds great. Does the Borla cat back bolt right up to the PPE headers? I have the headers installed and looking for the exhaust next

Yup, bolts right up to the headers like it would to the stock exhaust manifold/catalytic converter. Did you get your headers woth or without cats?

^^^^No ISF ISF headers (other than stock exhaust manifolds) come with cats installed (there's no room for them). if you want cats, you either leave the stock exhaust on and use the stock secondaries or add HiFlow cats to your third party exhaust.

I will be going Catless with the exhaust. I found what seems to be the best price on the Borla's. From JM auotosports. They are going for $1,172 with free shipping. I don't think I can beat that!

Oh, I was under the impression that they incorporated them into the headers if you ordered them w/cats. But I just looked on the website and it says the included cats are to be welded into the midpipe of your exhaust.
