i ran the Pirelli corsa system 285/30/19's for over a year. they fit fine on my 08 rims. some shops just won't put oversize tires on rims that they aren't recommended for.

Yes any tire SHOULD fit, but some tires are just designed differently than others. I would recommend with the tried and true brands (for 285), such as the s04's, conti DW. If you went with Michelin PSS or PS2 I would recommend going with 275/30/19, as they are a bit larger.

I'm running 285/30/19 on stock 2008 wheel and stock ride height (rear Lexus swaybar only) for 3 years with no problems. No perceive change in lateral hold from 275 but definite improvement in straight line traction.
I am running Vredestein Ultrac Vorti with 245F and 285R.

Tires are showing even wear at 15,000 miles with stock alignment specs

^^^^You and I have differing opinions on a lot of issues. And surprisingly enough, we also agree on a lot of others.
I can attest that the 245/285 combo will fit the stock 8s and 9s and outperform the stock sizes. That's my experience, believe it or don't, your choice.

How do the R888s perform on the streets? I was considering mounting those on my 18x9.5 Enkei PF01s and runing them during the good weather months.

Lou, you really ought to put your money where your mouth is on this one and do a track event with I8ABMR. Whoever carries higher mid-corner speed wins, because that's what wider tires are all about.
I've driven a Scion tC on 245/40/17s with 8" rims and with 8.5" rims. There is a big difference in mid-corner speed under track conditions, easily 2 mph, just as there is a 6 mph difference between a 2950 lb Scion tC on 245's with 8.5" rims and a 3415 lb MkIV Supra (yes, the Supra is slower) on OEM (235/45/17 & 255/40/17) Michelin tires.
We can always agree to disagree, but when the green flag drops, the BS stops.

FYI: I just put a 235/35 on the front and 275/30 Yokohama AD08 on the front (tread width is over .6" wider than the Michellin they're so square). One thing I found is the stock Bridgestone RE050 rides TERRIBLE and I never realized it was the tires doing it. The new Yoks grip like glue and cover so many more bumps while doing it... I'm loving them so far!

Headers
Hi guys. Two questions. I had headers installed and now feel a klunking noise the odd time from my front end. Car drives perfect. Usually occurs when I turn sharply. Something loose from dropping motor from frame?
Also noticed a drip of red tranny fluid on my garage floor. Drain plug? If so where is it located.
Thanks
