Best year to get an IS F
#4
Each year after 2010 has seen revisions to the suspension and the addition of LSD (MY10). Wheels, seat material, headlights, and instrument cluster were all changed, but those are rather cosmetic. There's nothing wrong with any of the years prior, including yours. It still makes 416 HP to the engine and still looks the same overall. But it's great Lexus constantly revised it to keep up and even be formidable against the likes of the M3 and C63.

/\/\/\ This. And when "it is" time to switch up for whatever reason opt for a 2012-2014. And if you want to go newer than 2012 then go with a 2013. It is the pinnacle of the latest of models & you get everything the 2014 has excluding F headrests, CF trunk spoiler & an updated Navi (minor changes I believe).

2010 and up , but ideally 2011 and up for the cosmetic stuff plus the mild suspension tweaks. I was looking for a solid track car so went with the 2010 for the LSD.

Prob a 2010 ISF b/c LSD, 2011 for lights and instrument cluster, 14 for everything lol.

I have also 2010. I don't see a real need to upgrade to 2011+
I love my leather seats and prefer the dual gauges. 2010 has the newer infotainment system!!
Upgrade your steering ECU and get the KW coilovers and call it a day.
Even if I got the 2011 model, I would still have to do something about the huge front fender gap.
So the upgraded suspension doesn't intrigue me.
One more thing, besides the price premium for the newer car, the sales tax in Cali is 8%.
That's huge amount of money vs coilovers and steeringECU upgrade.
Just my two cents.

This all depends on what you're planning to do with your car.
Do you plan on keeping your car stock or near stock?
If yes, then a 2011+ will be a real nice upgrade since you have lots of factory suspension and steering tweaks that makes the car superior in the handling department. The car also rides beautifully and comes with some extra cool cosmetic stuff, newer LFA style center tach, thicker steering wheel, LED stripe running headlamps, (wider wheels and alcantara/leather combo) if you go 2012+
BUT....
If you plan on doing extensive modding then all those nice suspension upgrades and wheels will be thrown out anyways, so it would be financially smarter to keep your 2010. The body never changed from 08-14 so anything on the 2011+ you can do to an 08-10 if you desire.
An IS-F is an IS-F no matter what year, so you have a great starting point either way. Personally I would keep your 2010, I'd do a full aftermarket suspension, throw in an 11+ steering rack and ECU and pocket the extra $$$.

I have several other heavily modded toys and just wanted a fun driver with Toyota reliability. Over the last couple months I have lowered my car, added an F Sport rear sway bar, a Joe Z exhaust system (intake elbow is on the 'to do' list), tinted the windows with 3M Crystalline, and added 3M 'clear bra' to the bumper, hood, fenders, headlights, mirrors, and door handle pockets.
Still nearly stock, but definitely a fun driver.
As RSXiMUS stated, if I owned a '10 that was relatively low mileage, I would in all probability keep it and add the suggested goods as described.
