Default ATS Carbon LSD

Its not a surprise that I have, like other 08-09 owners, been searching for a 2010+ Torsen. You see tons of threads of people saying to go with the OS Giken unit but at $2550 + shipping from Figs Engineering that's a quite costly upgrade.

I have been searching and found that ATS sells a few different LSD's specific to the ISF however I have not found any information on anyone running it. Does anyone know if its actively being used? Ive found a old thread from RAV SPEC selling it for $1750 with 2 gallons of oil shipped which is more reasonable than the OS unit.

looking for some real world reviews on this. Im more than willing to purchase a unit if it will help give others more options but I wont be able to compare it the OS unit since ive never driven on one.

I don't think anyone has this unit in their IS/ISF they are a very good company though. Too bad Across went out of business and now becomes ATS. Carbon chatter less than metal clutch type of LSD. ATS and Across has been around for ages now so I'm sure the until will be okay.

I've not heard of them either but I'm very interested. I still check every used parts search I can find weekly for the OE one.

Figgs or someone on here should come up with a GB for all the 2008-2009 owners on this forum

For those interested, I spoke with the guys at Koru Works which is a distributor for ATS and they run the ATS diffs in their cars and they like them. From what I understand with the ATS Carbon LSD, it has the same type of oiling system that the OS Giken unit does. With more research on the ATS Carbon in fact, ATS claims that the ATS creates no noise at all.

I did see that in 2005 they had some quality issues with the carbon units but they re vamped them in 2006 and from what I see no major issues.

Koru states that between the OS and the ATS, they would choose the ATS over the OS because of price point and they state that it is very close to the OS units.

I don't know what the OS unit uses as its "clutches" if they are carbon or a steel but the carbon is what helps the low noise.

Koru also stated that if the interest is high enough they would be willing to do a Group Buy of the units for a reasonable cost but getting it to the Rav Spec price will be hard since that was in 09 and ATS has had a price increase just like all other company's.

With this all said, I have placed my order for a 1.5way carbon unit today. It will be shipped via EMS direct from Japan so I should have the unit in 2-3 weeks or so.

Looking into a LSD and other mods for the IS-F I'm about to purchase, I can get the OS Giken for 2400 shipped through my distributor, how much are the ATS units? I don't see them.

ATS has been around for a long time, typical Japanese quality, I see some of their products from time to time in customers supra's......

The OS Giken TCD unit contains 28 heat-treated friction plates that are made of high-grade steel alloy:

That is correct, I didnt see how many plates the ATS has in it but im guessing its no where near the 28 plates.

I would assume you could find the ATS for $1800-$1900. the best part is, they told me not to run their LSD fluid which is around $95 a gallon. They suggested using any normal popular oil for a LSD.

So I had ATS give me a call today before the order went through to inform me that the carrier housing will need to be shaved down slightly just like the OS Giken install. they just wanted to ensure that I was aware of this and OK before the order goes through.

also, I found some more information regarding the Carbon disk redesign they did in 2007 along with oils test.
