Default My F has been a Victim... Repeatedly >:O

My F has been a victim of unsolicited pain in the past few months. When it rains... it f'N pours!

Incident #1: In October 2014, I just finished grocery shopping and came out to see two minor dents in my passenger side rear quarter panel. It looked like some irresponsible bastard let a shopping cart run into my parked car. It cost roughly $150 at the dealership to get the dents partially popped out, but you can still see where they were due to their proximity to the panel edges. Great. Thanks you careless grocery shopper!

Incident #2: Two weeks after the shopping cart incident, my girlfriend and I were leaving a haunted house for Halloween, While walking back to the car, we noticed a large white Silverado backing into a tight parking spot next to the F which seemed particularly close... When I approached, there wasn't even enough room to walk between the truck and my driver side. The guy driving the truck told me he backed into my car and apologized. (See damage below. Pics were taken the following day.)

He gave me his insurance agent's number, his passport, and his business card since he was in a company vehicle (he claimed he didn't have his DL and current proof of insurance). He told me he was the owner of www.txproducts.com (Chessley Ingram) and that he would use his insurance to pay for the damages. Over the next week or so, we kept in contact via text. Unfortunately, after I told him Lexus quoted the damage at $2800, he stopped responding to my texts and calls. When I called his insurance agent, she told me he was no longer insured with them. After a month of him refusing to answer my cordial texts, I wrote a scathing one about the value of his word as a man and that he was leaving me no choice but to file suit in small claims court. He promptly responded with a "go ahead and hire a lawyer." Awesome. I don't want to deal with the hassle of going through small claims court, so I guess I'll have to eat this one and hope that karma gives him what he deserves.

Incident #3: I took my girlfriend and I on a hot air balloon ride and a nice dinner for Valentine's this past Friday the 13th. Luckily, we didn't die on the hot air balloon ride. Unluckily, this is what I woke up to the next morning in my driveway. (See photos below.) I let my girlfriend drive my car the night before, and she forgot to take down my Passport Escort 9500IX radar detector off the windshield. Some hoodrat decided to smash in my passenger side window to steal it. Fantastic. Happy V-Day, everyone!

Does anybody know how much a passenger side window should cost to replace on the F? Any shop recommendations in the Dallas / Fort Worth area?

Damn! I'm sorry this all had to happen to you. The small claims issue is more pressing for me. People who don't own up to their faults should be dealt with harshly. The radar detector, while in plain sight, was still part of personal property, and the cost of repairs for that isn't as extensive as the second incident.

Such a shame this had to happen, but hopefully nothing bad moving forward. Best of luck, my friend!

I honestly feel some cars are just doomed. I had a twin turbo Z that I loved back in the day but everything bad that could happen happened to that car no matter how careful I was. I finally just had to get rid of it so I wouldn't go insane.

There's a saying, "Bad things come in 3's."

If I were you I would go out and buy a lotto ticket. God knows you have some good karma coming back to you! Hang in there man!

I was going to say bad things come in three's as well.

Sadly none of the incidents were down to you having an IS-F. You were just in the wrong places at the wrong times.

I'd hold on to it if I was you. Hopefully once the glass is fixed you'll have a run of better luck.

Lord knows you deserve it!

Hope things improve chap. Hang in there.

Wow...I hope things start looking up! I never take my V1 down when parked unless I go out of town or am at a meet with the windows down. Even then, sometimes I forget since it isn't habit (I don't really get much use from it during my daily driving). I need to burn the image of your busted window in my memory as a reminder.

Also I'd say #2 guy is lucky you aren't living up to your name in this instance. I wouldn't actually do anything rash of course, but would at least be tempted with thoughts of burning his house down.

Sorry to hear about your car and all it has been through and put you through. Speaking of which, I may have to consider taking down my radar too. I don't live in a bad area, but all it takes it one douche and it will be game over. About your window, my brother bought a window at a junkyard from the same vehicle when his car's window was smashed. It cost him a total of $120 and he swap it out himself. It isn't hard to do, but you just have to have be careful when changing out the window. Good luck to you though and hopefully, things work out for you.

I agree with the posts above - bad news comes in "3's" - so you are done for a while - Good Fortune awaits!

This is awful, I'm terribly sorry you've been made to deal with this regarding your F. There's little worse than feeling like a **** magnet.

One month after I got mine I got a nasty dent in the drivers door. No idea where that one came from as I hadn't even been parked next to anyone I didn't know. I honestly think it came from the dealership when I had them look at the brakes.

Two months after, my girlfriend decided to spray paint some end tables in her garage (where my F is stored). I came home that night & noticed the stains on the garage ground. I immediately called her and let her know the dangers in spray painting within an enclosed space. I hung up, approached the car, and sure enough - the entire car was covered in paint. The cloud had settled so badly on my F that I could feel paint with my hands on pretty much every inch of the car. I was not pleased..

I ended up having a shop I'm tight with buff the car for 250 and it ended up looking better than the day I got it. Happy ending here. Hope you find the same through this pal and I hope that bastard avoiding you gets what he deserves.

I can’t speak to the cost for installation, but the 68101-53052 FR RH door glass itself will set you back $326.83 (MSRP, but may be able to get it cheaper online).
I wish the Toyota move to Plano already happened, then I could help you replace the glass to save you the install cost. Hopefully it doesn’t, but if your string of bad luck extends out for another 1.5-2 years, then I can help.
