maybe your car isn't affected by the recall then, or you can check online by putting in your vin #

Just got my car back from San Diego Lexus and they also taped it up instead of ordering a new harness protector. I'll be calling my SA first thing in the morning.

Wow, that looks really ugly. I highly doubt tape can hold up against the heat this engine generates.

I've sent an email to Lexus corporate making them aware of this thread in hopes that maybe they will increase the time required to complete this recall and include the wire harnesses protective covers in the recall kit as Joe Z had suggested. It would suck to have something happen to the car long term because it was rushed, and then not be able to trace it back to it happening during the recall. Like my misfire that was created was blamed on it "possibly already being there, but we took care of it as a courtesy". And my wire harness protective cover was blamed on my header install, and the glued sensor was blamed on my header install, and the AC line cap being missing was blamed on "someone else must have done that". A lot of pointing of fingers from the dealer towards anyone else that touched the car, even if the specific areas I had problems with AFTER the ELF recall weren't touched by any other shop before.

I entered my Vin on the Toyota recall website and only the cooling fan recall comes up. Does anybody know for sure if this means my car doesn't need this fuel sensor recall?

just to update, i got my car today. However, the parts are not in until the first week of april. The good thing though its going to be replaced and obviously the car is driveable..there's no electrical tape either...its broken plastics on the ecu stuff..

They even screwed up the taping according to the recall documentation. They are not supposed to tape the end of the corrugated tubing to the wires. The documentation specifically says do NOT do this and provides a picture of how to do it right and how to do it wrong. This is just amazing. Dealership techs have access to all the information they need to do this job right, and they don't use it. If they ever tried to work on aircraft, they'd not last a single day.

Well I think I am gonna hold off on this recall until the bugs have been worked out. I do not think it is fair to do hose job on such a serious electrical component in a car like this.

Do you all think we should hold off on this recall as long as possible?

oh I forgot to mention.. I have had nothing but horrible services at LEXUS OF POHANKA in Chantilly VA…. Nothing better than a nice dealership brush machine wash to end your failed service attempt. I do not recommend any of you take your car there for this service or any other service for that matter.. and yes I meant to put the dealerships name out there.

I got my car back from Lexus of Orlando yesterday and my plastic cover is broken also. They ordered a new one with me having to tell them though. When I started it this morning, after sitting all night, I noticed it took a little longer to crank than it used to. I also noticed it after it sitting all day at work today. It cranks up nice a quick if I shut it off and then back on but it takes a couple more turns of the starter after it sat all day. Has anyone else experienced this?

They also adjusted the passenger side valves because I complained of valvetrain noise. Last April they adjusted the driver's side. The motor does sound quieter now. For some reason I think the car seems a little slower than before I dropped it off but maybe it's all in my head??? It felt pretty strong on the way home.

^^^ lol ..... Well my SA finially called me back my wire harness protector just came in..... It was back ordered. I told him to just mail it to me and I would install it myself even though he ask me to drop off my f and a tech would do install it for me, I politely declined. So look out for they DIY when I install it. I also ordered one from lexusofsouthatlanta so that's on a FedEx truck to SoCal as we speak.. Could never know how long these things will be back ordered with all these cases showing up.

I just had this recall performed at Longo Lexus in El Monte and wanted to add to this thread. I brought up the issues that other members have been had with the broken harness cover to my SA, John Chang. He assured me that they would do anything possible to avoid damaging the cover. When I picked up my car we popped the hood and everything was in perfect condition. If anyone is willing to make the drive to Longo Lexus I'd definitely recommend their service department
