Default Steel brake lines, anyone?

This question is particularly for the track guys- is anyone using steel brake lines?

And if so, for better stopping power or safety on the track, or both?

Thanks mucho-

EDIT: I JUST GOT OFF MY LAZY BUTT AND DID A SEARCH...IF SOMEONE WANTS TO DELETE THIS THREAD, THAT'S FIEN WITH ME.

I'm running the stoptech front and rear, my car had 70k when bought it now at 80k and the only complaint was the cheap rotors I decided to try out. Gonna order figs soon

I bought them a year ago and they are still in the package. I don't want to be constantly inspecting them for wear and broken steel strands. The lines on the car work great and I can rely on them when I need to stop from speeds of 220KM. When I started reading about installation error and guys losing brakes at the track I decided to stay with the factory lines. I guess I'm a chicken.....

I would also stick with stock. Added them to my G35 and it did nothing. Total checklist mod. Pretty sure Brembo did a bang up job. Steel brake lines are for guys upgrading family cars.. To each his own.

Im saving cash to burn on tires for the track!!

If your brake lines are more than about 5 years old it is a good idea to replace them, especially if you drive the car aggressively. Many guys who use their cars aggressively prefer to go to a braided SS line- Lines from a reputable brand (Endless, Project Mu, Stoptech, etc.) are usually more durable than OEM lines and provide a little better feel depending on the lines they are replacing. OEM lines on the IS-F appear to be a quality piece so the difference in feel will be less apparent than replacing lower quality OEM lines on another vehicle. If you're casually street driving the vehicle I doubt anyone could notice a difference but I would argue many experienced track drivers would prefer the SS lines over OEM.

I can't say with certainty what the OEM fluid is in the IS-F but I can say that cars of this caliber usually come specd with something decent- typically ATE type 200, Motul 5.1, Brembo Sport Evo 500 or equivalent. Its usually perfect for anything less than really aggressive use like prolonged mountain run or especially track work. If the car sees very aggressive use then a true high temp fluid is a must (Endless RF-650, Project Mu G-Four 335, PFC RH665, Motul RBF 660, Castrol SRF etc.)

I decided to keep the OEM lines, changing out the pads to EBC and the fluid to Motul.
