Default K&n intake install question

I bought it used so I don't have the instructions. I totally removed the secondary intake solenoid with the air box and plugged the vacuum port on the manifold. will this be OK or do I need to have the solenoid plugged into the electrical harness? just don"t want the check engine light illuminating.

thanks. I did watch that video. That's what got me thinking about leaving the secondary intake solenoid plugged in with the car. Just wondering if that's a standard procedure with all aftermarket intakes? Mine is still removed and unplugged. I got 11 miles on it so far with no MIL illuminated.
