Default My F has officially broken for the first time

So I was lacking a car for the day and needed to go some where so I pulled the F out of the garage during winter. I was running around doing something's and my power steering light came on and my car started turning like a tank. Cycled the key and it went away. Half an hour later it quit again. Over the course of the after noon I lost and regained power steering 6 times.... Scetchy. I have an appointment at the shop that works on my car . I hope the power steering computer just needs a reset or something but who knows. Praying I don't need a steering rack.

Was it during lower speeds? How old is your battery?

I have heard of some people experiencing loss of power steering when their battery voltage was low. I hope it's something simple like this.

If it is the rack, the good news is you can find a any late model 2IS in the junkyard and get a "new" rack. I'm betting on the battery though.

Definitely keep us posted. I know that you run your car harder than most members given the tracking that you do and the mods that you have, so your car has really been a good example of what this car is capable of from a reliability even when driven hard standpoint. I bet it is just the battery.

I have just under 65000 miles. Didn't even think of a battery. But I bet that's it because I noticed the master window switch didn't operate any of the other windows which I've see the F do after a battery was pulled. Il test the battery before bringing it to the shop.

Did the battery fix it? I am having an issue right now where my steering on right hand turns is grinding. I am trying to figure out if it is power steering or something else.

My friend had a similar problem with his IS350 a couple years back. Steering took a **** on him when he was parking the car. I think its a warranty concern.

So my steering problem went away after a battery charge and has come back with a C1555 Code. Motor Relay Welding Failure. Any one know causes to this code. It is causing intermittent power steering failure.

You may end up needing a new power steering ECU.

Did you happen to do the 2012 retrofit, or are you still on your original ECU?

I've never heard of anyone having your issue before, nor do I have any idea how it spontaneously went bad, unless you swapped out your ECU at some point.

On the bright side, may be a reason to upgrade to a new steering ecu !

Or scrap the whole rack and ECU. My car has this issue. You might imagine how pissed off I was to find this LSB long after my warranty was expired.
